Adrian Lam is relishing the arrival of Jackson Hastings as Wigan Warriors prepare for the new Super League season.
Wigan Warriors (3/1 – Grand Final Winner) boss Adrian Lam has revealed his excitement at the arrival of Great Britain half-back Jackson Hastings ahead of the new season.
There has been some speculation regarding Hastings’ move to the DW Stadium, with rumours suggesting the player was having second thoughts over a switch from Salford Red Devils to the Cherry and Whites.
However, Lam has dismissed those concerns and says he’s looking forward to having the playmaker on board at the Warriors for next season.
“I met with him in New Zealand when I was over there with the Kangaroos and he’s really excited about coming to the club,” Lam said. “He sat down with the Wigan boys and had a good chat.
“Obviously he’s having a break now with his family in Australia, I know it’s been in the media but from my side of things and the club’s perspective, we’re expecting him at training on January 3.
“He knows his starting date, I’m expecting him here then and on my behalf I’m looking forward to having him here.”
Hastings was brought in as a replacement for England international George Williams, who has decided to move on to pastures new with the Canberra Raiders in the NRL.
Reports have suggested Hastings has a release clause allowing him too to play Down Under after the end of his first season with Wigan.
The Warriors will kick-start their Betfred Super League campaign on January 30 when they host Warrington Wolves (Wigan 4/7, draw 22/1, Warrington 11/8 – Match Betting).
