St Helens host Wigan Warriors in the Betfred Super League on Friday in the pick of the matches on a packed night of rugby league (St Helens 3/10, Wigan 5/2, tie 25/1).

Historically one of the biggest rivalries in the sport, Saints welcome the Cherry and Whites to the Totally Wicked Stadium looking to further extend their lead at the top of the table but could find this game difficult considering they are facing one of the most in-form teams in the Betfred Super League.

After a slow start under Adrian Lam, Wigan are flying having won five matches on the bounce and are seeking to close the gap once more to Hull FC, who moved four points clear in third after beating bottom side London Broncos on Thursday evening (Wigan to win in 80 minutes boost offer 7/2).

However, a Saints win would put them at least eight points clear of second-placed Warrington and represent a crucial milestone on the way to an almost certain League Leaders’ Shield, in what has so far been a near-perfect season.

Warrington themselves take on Salford Red Devils with the aim of maintaining their six-point gap back to Hull FC in third (Warrington 1/5, Salford 9/2, tie 25/1).

Steve Price’s men have lost two of their last four but Salford themselves are winless in two which means the home side should prevail in that clash (Warrington, Catalans, and Castleford all to win 4/1 – rugby league boosts).

At the wrong end of the table, arguably the most significant class comes at Headingley where Leeds Rhinos face Hull KR in a massive match that could help decide the fate of one of the teams in terms of relegation (Leeds 2/5, Hull 9/4, tie 25/1).

The Rhinos have been buoyed by the arrivals of Robert Lui from Salford and Shaun Lunt from KR, winning their last two, including an impressive away win at Castleford last time out.

Hull KR should be have been boosted by their derby win over FC two weeks ago but were battered 52-10 by Wigan last week.

Elsewhere, a West Yorkshire derby takes place at the Mobile Rocket Stadium between out-of-form Wakefield and play-off chasers Castleford (Wakefield 11/10, Castleford 5/6, tie 22/1).

The final game sees Huddersfield Giants host another play-off chaser in Catalans, with the Giants needing the two points to escape relegation danger (Huddersfield evens, Catalans 10/11, tie 22/1).
