Rob Cross will be looking for revenge in the Premier League play-offs after losing out to Michael van Gerwen in the race to be the league phase winner (Cross 4/1 Outright Betting).

‘Voltage’ topped the standings at the end of week 13 and 14 but an 8-6 loss to James Wade last week in Leeds coupled with Van Gerwen’s 8-5 triumph over Mensur Suljovic saw the world number one claim the £25,000 bonus for the group stage winner.

Cross finished second, with Wade and Daryl Gurney completing the top four who will square off at London’s O2 Arena on Thursday.

Cross takes on Wade in the second semi-final and is an 8/13 favourite to win, but that loss to his fellow Englishman is sure to be in the back of the 2018 world champion’s mind, with ‘The Machine’ on offer at 13/10 to get through to the final.

‘Mighty Mike’ will toe the oche alongside Gurney in the night’s opening last-four showdown and is, unsurprising, a 1/5 favourite to get past ‘Superchin’.

However, the Northern Irishman did the double over the Dutchman in the league phase and has hit form at the right time with three wins and a draw in his last four Premier League outings.

Van Gerwen won his final two matches but has shown a vulnerability at times this year which means Gurney is not without hope.

MVG is eyeing a fourth straight Premier League title and does tend to raise his game on the biggest stage, averaging 112.37 when demolishing Michael Smith in the 2018 final (Van Gerwen 8/15 Outright Betting).
