Bayern Munich (1/40 Bundesliga outright) manager Niko Kovac says he isn’t interested in what Borussia Dortmund (16/1 Bundesliga outright) do on Saturday as the German rivals battle it out for the title.

He made a stuttering start to life as Bayern boss last summer and Dortmund subsequently stole a march in the Bundesliga title race.

After winning his first four league games at the helm they came unstuck between September and November – winning just twice in eight outings.

In contrast, Dortmund almost made it to the winter break without losing a single game but their impressive streak was ended on December 18 by Fortuna Dusseldorf.

With Bayern finding their feet, Dortmund appeared to be cracking under the pressure and they invited the Bavarians back into the title race after winning just one of their league engagements in February.

The pair have dropped points in recent weeks and Saturday’s season finale sees both in contention to win the title.

Bayern sit two points clear at the top of the standings as they prepare to host Eintracht Frankfurt (Match betting – Bayern 1/4, draw 11/2, Eintracht Frankfurt 9/1), while Dortmund travel to fourth-placed Borussia Monchengladbach.

Kovac insists he hasn’t been paying attention to Dortmund’s results over recent weeks and will continue to focus on his own side on Saturday.

“I haven’t asked about their [Dortmund’s] results recently and I won’t be doing so this weekend either,” said Kovac.

“We’re in a situation where we have matters in our own hands. I’m not interested in what Dortmund do. That won’t influence us at all.

“We’re going to go for the win against Frankfurt.

“And I’m assuming they will too. During the winter break we wanted to have the chance to win the league come the end of the season. Now we’ve got that chance and we want to make the most of it. We’re extremely motivated.”
