Manager Javi Gracia says Watford have to take advantage of an “important” day at Wembley on Saturday and win their first ever major honour.

The Spaniard has overseen a wonderful season for the Hornets as they finished 11th in the Premier League – well clear of any relegation danger for the whole season – while playing a brand of attractive football and building a team full of excellent young players.

They face the difficult task of stopping Manchester City from winning their third trophy of the season, to add to their triumphs in the Premier League and League Cup (Manchester City FA Cup Outright 1/7, Watford 9/2 Match Betting).

City won both games with the Hornets in the league this season, with Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez netting at Vicarage Road in December in a 2-1 win, while Raheem Sterling scored a hat trick at the Etihad in March in a 3-1 triumph (Sterling first goalscorer 7/2, Troy Deeney 14/1).

Despite the poor record they have against their opponents, Gracia has called on his men to make history by winning their first ever FA Cup.

“I know all the important dates for the club – or finals in this case – but I don’t need all these things to feel more pressure,” said Gracia. “I know perfectly it is an important day, it is an important game. I would like to make history with the club – and to do it we need to win.

“After that we will see if we play another final next season or not, but this is the moment. It is our moment and we have to feel it. I am sure the players know it and they will be ready to give their best.”
