Toronto Wolfpack have a master plan in place to add some superstars to their side if they gain promotion to the Betfred Super League next season from the Championship.

The Canadian side are four points clear of Toulouse in second place in the Championship and are preparing for a bright future, although they know they still have work to do this term.

Wolfpack owner David Argyle has already spoken to his director of rugby Brian Noble and head coach Brian McDermott about possible signings for next term and he is targeting players at this year’s Rugby Union World Cup as a source of talent (New Zealand 6/5 – World Cup outright).

One name that leaps of the page for Argyle is Sonny Bill Williams who has excelled in both codes and would be a massive draw even at the age of 33.

Argyle said: “I personally would love to see Sonny Bill Williams in a Toronto Wolfpack shirt.

“Obviously it comes down to what both Brians say and how it works out and, of course, it comes down to what Sonny Bill says.

“But there are ten really big superstar names out there and we would love to have at least one of those in the squad for next year.

“There are a few other rugby union players who, after the World Cup, will probably have achieved everything they can in union and might want to come back or jump across to rugby league.

“I think that’s going to be really exciting, if we are able to secure one or more of those players.”

Meanwhile Toronto can take another big step to promotion this weekend when they take on second placed Toulouse at the summer bash in Blackpool this weekend.

Odds subject to change.
