Unai Emery has moved to clarify that he has put a top-four finish in the Premier league as his top Arsenal priority ahead of Europa League success.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery claims his priority is to secure a top-four Premier League finish (Arsenal 7/4 Top 4 Finish) ahead of trying to reach the Champions League via the Europa League this season.

The Gunners’ chief watched as two goals from Alexandre Lacazette and one from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang helped his side come from behind to record a 3-1 Europa League semi-final first-leg win against Valencia at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday.

They travel to Spain on Thursday hoping that the two-goal cushion will be enough to secure them a place in the final (Arsenal 1/4 To Qualify), where they will meet the winners of the last-four tie between Premier League rivals Chelsea and Eintracht Frankfurt which is finely poised at 1-1.

However, Arsenal will face Brighton (Arsenal 1/3, Draw 9/2, Brighton 10/1 – Match Betting) on Sunday afternoon looking to end a run of three consecutive league defeats and stay in touch with Chelsea and Tottenham in the fight for a top-four finish, which will seal them a place in next season’s Champions League.

And, while winning the Europa League on May 29 (Arsenal 15/8 – Europa League Outright) would also hand them a place in Europe’s top competition next term, Emery is adamant that he would like to get the job done via their league finish.

“My message is the same for the team and the supporters, our first priority continues to be the Premier League,” the Spanish tactician said.

“If we win our match against Brighton, then we are going to play our last match against Burnley with the possibility to be in the top four.

“The second [priority] is the Europa League. We need to play the second leg in Valencia (Valencia 10/11, Draw 13/5, Arsenal 11/4 – Match Betting) but it is going to be difficult.

“For us, the Premier League is the first competition where we want to do something important this year.”
