Aidan O’Brien’s Ten Sovereigns is the 7/2 antepost favourite with Betfred for this year’s Qipco 2000 Guineas after a field of 19 was confirmed for Saturday’s big race.

O’Brien has two hopefuls in the line-up for the eagerly-awaited Newmarket contest with Magna Grecia his other candidate. The two dominate the betting at this stage with Magna Grecia just behind the favourite at 9/2.

Unbeaten Ten Sovereigns, who impressed when winning the Middle Park Stakes in September, is expected to be the one to beat but Magna Grecia has the ability to come out on top too as O’Brien bids to extend his record success in the colts’ Classic with his 10th 2000 Guineas success this weekend.

Madhmoon, trained by Kevin Prendergast, is next in the betting at 6/1, while Craven Stakes winner Skardu (8/1) and Pheonix Stakes victor Advertise (8/1) are also among the lively contenders.

Martyn Meade’s Advertise, in particular, will be expected to go well with experienced jockey Frankie Dettori on board.

Godolphin have sent three runners for the Newmarket spectacle as Mark Johnston’s Dark Vision (40/1), Saeed bin Suroor’s Royal Marine (9/1) and Charlie Appleby’s Al Hilalee (12/1) are all among the 19.

Further down Betfred’s betting market for the big race are the likes of Set Piece (16/1), Kick On (16/1) and Great Scot (20/1), ahead of Urban Icon (25/1), Momkin (33/1) and Shine So Bright (33/1).

Other outside chances making up the field are Emaraaty Ana (40/1) and Azano, King Of Change, Name The Wind and Sporting Chance (all 66/1).

O’Brien is aiming for his third 2000 Guineas victory on the bounce after winning in 2017 with Churchill and last year with Saxon Warrior.

Odds subject to change.
