Jump season’s finale brings joy all round
Five punters were celebrating Scoop6 success on Saturday after Gary Moore’s Larry landed the final leg, resulting in each punter walking away with £24,319.50.
Success earlier in the afternoon for fancied trio Getaway Trump, Safe Voyage and Black Corton saw 497 units still in the hunt at halfway. Victory for Talkischeap in the feature of the day at Sandown meant 87 were still in play with two races to go, and nineteen made it to the finale after the favourite, Younevercall scored.
The lucky last was a close run affair, with the two units on Gone Platinum, who was denied by a neck, unfortunate to miss out.
The five winners will now go forward to Guineas weekend at Newmarket to try and pick the winner of a nominated race in an attempt to add the £214,864 bonus fund.
Totepool spokesman Matt Hulmes said “The Scoop6 win fund has finally been landed after a few weeks of rollovers, and punters will be happy as Larry after the final winner scored by a narrow margin on the final day of the National Hunt season.
The bonus fund is now at the mercy of the qualifying quintet who will play for £214,864 next Saturday.”
The place fund paid 18.90 and was won by 1011 units.
Also on Saturday, the placepot paid a huge £26,649.60 at Haydock and one punter, at the course, had a £2 correct line, paying £53,299.20.
Sheila Robinson, pictured, from Cumbria, enjoys a flutter on the placepot, and braved Storm Hannah, which hit the Merseyside track in the afternoon, to land her biggest prize to date.
She said “I’m absolutely thrilled. I looked at the form this morning and picked six that I liked. I love the placepot, but I’ve never won anything close to this much before.”
A magnificent season ended in spectacular fashion indeed.
