Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool to win their next two games and take the Premier League title race to the last day as they prepare to face Huddersfield tonight (Liverpool 3/1 to win the title).
Manchester City remain in the box seat after an impressive 2-0 win at Manchester United on Wednesday night moved them one point clear at the top, but Liverpool refuse to go away and Klopp is keen to keep the pressure on.
They can do that with three points against already relegated Huddersfield at Anfield tonight, and Klopp says they are well aware of what needs to be done (match betting – Liverpool 1/12, Draw 12/1, Huddersfield 33/1).
“Now it’s clear, we are one point behind [Manchester] City and if we win our next two games then it will be decided on the last game. That’s pretty special,” Klopp said.
Klopp will hand late fitness tests to midfielders Fabinho and Adam Lallana before naming his side for the clash, while Dejan Lovren is expected to have recovered from illness to take his place in the heart of the defence.
Huddersfield have been boosted by the news Adama Diakhaby is in contention following a hamstring injury, but star midfielder Aaron Mooy is an injury doubt.
The Terriers are huge underdogs ahead of the game, but boss Jan Siewert says that will not stop his players from enjoying the occasion and believes anything is possible (Both teams to score – 11/8).
“I’m really excited to go there,” he said. “We’re looking forward to it. We shouldn’t be stupid. We know about the quality of Liverpool. They’re favourites and we’re not at all.
“But we have possibilities and there must be an excitement, the same that I have, that my players will have – to go there and perform to the best of their ability.”
