Arsene Wenger says the Europa League is now the priority for Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that the Europa League is now the main priority for Arsenal as they look to win silverware and book their place in next season’s Champions League (Arsenal 5/2 – Europa League outright).

It was a route that Manchester United took last season as they missed out on the top four in the Premier League, and Arsenal will now attempt the same.

Wenger has so far refused to say the Europa League is their main focus, but speaking ahead of tonight’s quarter-final second leg against CSKA Moscow, he went public with his thoughts.

The Gunners are 13 points behind Tottenham in fourth so Wenger admits winning the Europa League is by far their best hope.

“The Europa League is important for us, everyone knows that,” he said. “We are at a stage where we focus on it because in the Premier League we have a very, very, very slim chance to move further up so the Europa League is one of the big targets now.”

Arsenal head to Moscow with a 3-0 lead but Wenger insists his side still have work to do to pogress (CSKA 5/2, Draw 14/5, Arsenal 21/20 – Europa League match betting).

“It can happen in the game, that is why we love football, it is unpredictable,” he added. “In every game, everything is questioned again. It is new every time. We are in a position where I don’t think we are under threat of complacency, it is an important target for us to go as far as possible.”
