Paddy Brennan joined Betfred to talk through the upcoming week at Cheltenham and he was particularly keen to pay tribute to the chances of Gold Cup contender Cue Card.

Brennan had previously been very keen on the superstar’s chances when speaking exclusively to Betfred TV earlier in the year but since then, it appears his love of the horse has grown even deeper.

When asked about Cue Card’s chance in the Gold Cup during Betfred’s Cheltenham preview on Sunday evening, Brennan said: “He’s in awesome form, he couldn’t be any better. After his operation, everything has gone to plan. I just can’t wait for the race.

Tom Lee questioned the stats which suggest it may be difficult for Cue Card to land the Gold Cup, as many are predicting, but Brennan was more than confidence the horse had the ability to buck the trends.

“At the age of ten, Cue Card has never been better. There’s not many horses that peak at this age, but he certainly looks to be.”

Brennan was also quick to quash any suggestions that the trip may not suit the high-class chaser.

The jockey said: “Personally I feel the biggest mistake now would be going back in trip, as the extra two furlongs would be in his favour, as would Cheltenham.

“There’s no excuses, I think he has everything needed to win a Gold Cup.”

After winning the Betfair Chase and the King George crown, Cue Card is now in the running for the £1m JCR Chasers’ Triple Crown bonus, which would force Betfred to payout over £1m in winning bets!

He has developed into a real top-class chaser after a disappointing year last season and all roads lead to Cheltenham where Colin Tizzard and Brennan could be in for a fantastic week.

The Tizzard’s have been working tirelessly to get the horse to Cheltenham in top form and Colin is excited at having the chance to head to Prestbury Park with a real chance.

He said; “The Gold Cup is the biggest race of the year and to think we’ve got a horse to even run in it is exciting.

“I think he’s good enough, on a given day. You would think the race would be set up for him, he’ll sit third or fourth and run down the hill.

“His best form has been at Cheltenham, so we’re quietly confident that we’re going to see the best of him.”

Another major part of the team, his son Joe, also feels that Cue Card has to enter the reckoning after winning both the Betfair Chase and King George this season.

Joe said: “We’re not ignorant to how difficult a race it is to win but we can get him there in as good form as we can and he’s got some of the best form on offer.

“He’s beaten them all in the past, so he can win it.”

If you feel that Brennan and the Tizzard’s can team up to land the Gold Cup with Cue Card, you can take advantage of a limited price boost here with Betfred, as we are now 13/2 for Cue Card to win the Gold Cup!
