Staff Turn Detective to Find Winner
Betfred staff turned detective to find a £1,000 winner.
A wanted poster was produced after one of the exclusive additional prizes for Betfred customers who place numbers bets went unclaimed – and Thursday’s deadline was fast approaching.
It was known the bet had been made on Saturday October 31 at the Betfred shop on Prescot Road, Old Swan, Liverpool and all staff were issued with a security camera image of the punter who didn’t know he was in the money.
They feared the smartly dressed man who had bet £9 on the Irish Lottery would miss out because he was regular on Fridays or Saturdays.
But when he did unexpectedly nip in the shop on Wednesday deputy manager Paul Westhead who had memorised the wanted poster gave the semi-retired postman the good news.
The 58-year-old winner said: “It’s not sunk in yet but that money will come in very handy at Christmas. I am so grateful and want to thank them all at Betfred.”
The father of two added: “The only reason I went in on Wednesday was because I am working at the weekend. Its not very often you go to the bookies and they give you money before you put a bet on…but that’s what happened.”
All Betfred customers who place a numbers bet automatically go into a draw made each Saturday on Betfred TV with 15 prizes of £1000 and £500 up for grabs every week!
