After a thrilling encounter between these two sides in round three, Leeds Rhinos and St Helens will look to put on another show when they meet at Headingley in the Betfred Super League on Friday night.

The Rhinos were surprise 25-24 winners in that match, but both teams have been largely inconsistent since that meeting.

St Helens sit above Leeds in seventh only by points difference, but they do have a game in hand over Rohan Smith’s side.

Neither team will run out at Headingley in good form and it promises to be a close battle between two sides who should be doing much better in the table.

Leeds Rhinos vs St Helens Betting Tips:

  • St Helens to win @ 4/7
  • St Helens to win by 6-10 points @ 9/2

Date: Friday 26th May, 2023
Time: 20:00
Location: Headingley Stadium, Leeds.

Team news

Leeds boss Smith will be without Blake Austin and Sam Lisone due to calf injuries, but he will welcome back Ash Handley, Luke Hooley and Leon Ruan. Both James Bentley and Jack Sinfield miss out, though, due to return to play protocols.

St Helens coach Paul Wellens will welcome back star duo Curtis Sironen and Konrad Hurrell, but Morgan Knowles is suspended yet again after his red card during the 26-6 Challenge Cup victory over Halifax Panthers.

Saints skipper James Roby was rested for that match and he returns to the fold ahead of the trip to Headingley.

St Helens to win @ 4/7

While some sides usually struggle at Headingley, the Saints have an impressive recent record at the iconic stadium. The reigning Super League champions have won their last four away meetings against Leeds, with the Rhinos’ previous success coming in August 2017.

After back-to-back defeats at the start of April, Saints have now won three in four in all competitions and, with Hurrell, Sironen and Roby all back in the fold, they should have enough quality to beat Smith’s inconsistent side.

Betfred Super League Betting Odds

St Helens to win by 6-10 points @ 9/2

It has been hard to back these two sides with much conviction this season, but Leeds have at least shown some fight of late.

Smith’s men have done it the hard way at times and their form has been patchy at best. However, even in defeat, Leeds have shown some fight, losing by less than 10 in four of their previous five losses.

With Saints yet to find their best form this season since winning the World Club Challenge, we expect a close match and Saints to win by 6-10 points at 9/2 looks good value for Friday’s battle.
