There is a bumper eight-race card at Bath on Friday, one of seven race meetings taking place across the UK and Ireland, and we have picked out three selections who should go well in Somerset.

Action on Lansdown Hill kicks off with the 13:40 – a Restricted Maiden Stakes for 3YO only – while the Emirates Breeders Handicap at 18:05 brings down the curtain on events in South West England.

Bath Betting Tips:

  • 14:15 – Pink Lily @ 9/4
  • 16:30 – Suanni @ 7/1
  • 17:35 – Eye Of The Water @ 11/2

14:15 – Pink Lily @ 9/4

Our first selection comes in the second race on the card – the M J Church Contracting Handicap over 1m 2f 37y – and there is strong reasoning to side with PINK LILY to make it back-to-back wins at this venue.

The three-year-old’s first run this year resulted in a third-place effort at Salisbury on May 4th, before she then followed that up with a comfortable one and a quarter-length victory at Bath 13 days later under jockey Alec Voikhansky.

Voikhansky has once again been booked in for Friday’s ride and trainer Richard Hannon will be hoping his charge has strong claims once again, albeit under a penalty after that recent victory.

Fullforward, who was second in that same Salisbury race Pink Lily was third in, looks to be the primary danger and it could turn out to be a tussle between the pair come the finish line.

16:30 – Suanni @ 7/1

Next up on our agenda is the M J Church Waste Solutions Handicap at 16:30, a race that has attracted a field of 11 and one that SUANNI looks to have strong claims in.

Recent form has been nothing to shout about for the four-year-old, who was last of eight on his first run of 2023 at Lingfield Park in April before once again ending up back of the field at the same venue earlier this month.

However, Darryll Holland’s charge is a C&D winner at Bath, claiming the spoils in September 2021 by two and a-half lengths, and a return to this track could bring the best out of his grey gelding.

It’s also worth noting Suanni is 3lb lower than his last winning mark, which came at Wolverhampton in November last year, so this contest looks to be a winnable one for him.

Horse Racing Odds

17:35 – Eye Of The Water @ 11/2

Rounding off our three selections is EYE OF THE WATER in the Octagon Consultancy Handicap over 1m at 17:35, a race that will see a field of nine battling it out for the win.

It has, so far, been a very positive 2023 for Ronald Harris’s charge, with the seven-year-old’s first run of the year resulting in a narrow victory at Wolverhampton over 7f 36y.

A couple of poor runs at Wolverhampton followed before the gelding then ended up third at Bath over 1m, finding Havana Goldrush and Bobby Dassler too good on that day.

However, Eye of the Water returned to the Somerset track just over a week later to score in a 12-runner Handicap, this time getting the better of Havana Goldrush by a short head.

There were positives to take from a third-place effort at Chepstow since and it would be no surprise to see Harris’s charge bolt up for a second C&D victory at Bath.
