Sassuolo will be hoping to experience that winning feeling for the first time since April when they make the trip to relegated Sampdoria on Friday evening for their penultimate game of the Serie A season.
It has been a miserable campaign for Serie B-bound Samp, who have picked up just three victories from 36 attempts and are some 13 points adrift of Spezia in 17th position.
Despite a run of four games without a win, Sassuolo can still achieve a top-half finish, if they win their last two matches and other results go their way, and Friday’s contest looks like the perfect opportunity for the visitors to deliver.
Football Bet of the Day – Friday 26th May
- Domenico Berardi to score & Sassuolo to win @ 12/5
Date: Friday 26th May, 2023
Location: Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Genoa
Sampdoria are a club in real crisis, both on and off the pitch, and it is hard to believe there will be a great deal of effort or desire to pick up just their fourth league win of the season.
Dejan Stankovic’s side have lost four of their last five assignments and are without a win in nine, taking a miserly three points during this disastrous run of form.
This is a team devoid of confidence and Sassuolo can take full advantage of the situation when they head to Stadio Luigi Ferraris, a stadium they have only lost at just once in their past five visits.
Alessio Dionisi’s troops have been scratching around form of late, especially on the road where they have lost their last four, but they did embark on a five-match unbeaten streak away from home before this losing run.
The Black and Greens couldn’t have asked for a more prime opportunity to get back to winning ways and the 5/6 on a victory appeals, but there looks to be more value when adding in Domenico Berardi to score anytime.
Italy international Berardi, who has six goals in 25 caps for his country, is leading his club’s scoring charts this season with 10 goals from 24 Serie A appearances.
Although recent results have been poor, the 28-year-old has still managed to impress and he has netted four goals in his last five outings, including in the last match against Monza.
Berardi looks to be in clinical form in front of goal right now and he will be relishing the chance of going up against Sampdoria, who have the league’s worst defence with 67 goals conceded.
Available at 12/5 as one of Betfred’s #PickYourPunt options, backing Sampdoria to win and Berardi to score anytime looks the value play here.
