The Premier League is on the final straight but there are still a few things to iron out, one of which is the final Top four spot, where Manchester United have a little work to do and host Chelsea on Thursday. We’ve previewed this one and given you our suggested best bets.
Man Utd vs Chelsea Tips
Thursday 25 May, 2023
20:00
Old Trafford, Manchester
Manchester United (4/7) require just a solitary point from their last two games, to join Newcastle, thwart Liverpool and secure Champions League football for the first time in two seasons.
Facing them is a Chelsea (4/1) side that have had an absolutely terrible season, losing two managers, winning just 11 games and sitting down in 12th, just 13 points from the relegation spots.
There are strong rumours that Mauricio Pochettino will take over in the summer and surely he will be able to do a better job with a side that is stacked full of talent, having spent a fortune this season.
Erik ten Hag has had an up and down season, that has seen awful losses against Brentford (4-0), Liverpool (7-0) and Sevilla (3-0), yet could finish in two domestic cups and a Top 4 spot.
He has certainly gotten the majority of Man Utd fans on his side, which is more than the previous two managers can say but will have more work to do in the summer.
Team news:
Marcus Rashford missed out last time via injury, so will need to be checked before lining up on Thursday night. Marcel Sabitzer’s loan period is over after an injury saw him return back to his parent club.
Chelsea have as many as nine first team squad members missing due to injury and just want this season to end and quickly.
Man Utd to win to nil – 15/8
This one looks like a foregone conclusion, with United winning their last two and are in fine form in front of the Old Trafford faithful.
Four of their last five games at home have ended in wins to nil and Chelsea have struggled to score all season.
The Blues have just 36 goals from 36 games and don’t have a single player in double figures.
Anthony Martial to score first – 4/1
One of the most frustrating players in recent seasons, vying from the sublime, to the injured, to the uninterested.
Anthony Martial always looks a threat when he is fully fit and given good service and I think that will be the case here, with Marcus Rashford a doubt.
The Frenchman has five Premier League goals from 10 starts and scored the opening goal against Wolves in the recent 2-0 win.
Betfred are running their famed Double Delight/ Hat-trick Heaven Promotion on this match, meaning should the striker score first and then go on to score a second, you will be paid at double the odds (8/1). Should he score a 3rd, you would be paid at triple the odds (12/1).
