They go out eight times on the all-weather at Chelmsford on Thursday evening, with the action in Essex running from 17:20 to 20:52.

It is one six cards on the day, with Irish Jumps fare from Limerick, while in the UK, there are Flat cards on the turf at Catterick, Haydock and Sandown and also all-weather action at Wolverhampton.

The Chelmsford card features plenty of lively sorts, with our selections including a three-time C&D winner and a Tom Clover pair who should also thrive on what looks set to be a lovely late spring evening.

17:50 – Rogue De Vega @ SP

ROGUE DE VEGA made a decent racecourse debut last month and can progress from that opening run.

The three-year-old finished second on his first time out last month and is boosted by the presence of David Egan on board, who has been in decent form, winning with Jabaara at Newmarket on Saturday.

Clover will be keen to see his gelding in action again against the likes of newcomer Make Clear, whose dam won here over C&D.

Meanwhile, Kanohi Breeze drops in trip to this 5f, which may make her a contender in her hunt for a first career win.

19:52 – Monaadhil @ SP

The Handicap at 19:52 features a familiar face to those who frequent Chelmsford, with three-time C&D winner MONAADHIL ready to go.

Last seen finishing third here over this same 7f trip, he was his own worst enemy as he found himself too keen and eventually ran out of gas but jockey James Sullivan, a regular on board, will have learned from that and improvement is expected.

Ruth Carr’s gelding’s most recent victory at Chelmsford came on April 13, so he has obviously been prepared well, but he is likely to be pushed by recent Newcastle winner Martineo.

The eight-year-old’s trainer John Butler has won this race before and his charge should be a contender after only being penalised 1lb for his Gosforth Park success.

However, history is on Monaadhil’s side and a seventh career win beckons.

20:22 – Jungle Run @ SP

Finally and another previous C&D winner is the selection in the 20:22, with JUNGLE RUN likely to go well.

The four-year-old scored here in March 2022 and, running off a mark just 2lb higher than his previous success here, is a real contender.

Decent showings at Wolverhampton and Lingfield provide optimism and a slight slip in class suggests Clover has again placed him well here.

Billian will be a threat after breaking his maiden at Wolverhampton in March before also getting up here on May 11.

The five-year-old is improving under Philip Kirby but his continued rise in the weights may prove too much.
