Southwell is one of five race meetings to get stuck into on Wednesday and we have picked out three selections that look to have a good chance of success in Nottinghamshire.

There are seven jumps races in total taking place, the action beginning with the Download The At The Races App Novices’ Handicap Chase at 17:50 and concluding with the Follow @attheraces On Twitter Handicap Hurdle at 20:50.

Southwell Betting Tips:

18:50 – Sir Tivo @ 3/1

The first of our three selections comes in the 18:50 – the Download Fitzdares For Free Race Streaming Handicap Chase over 1m 7f 182y – and SIR TIVO has been given the nod to get things off to a positive start in Nottinghamshire.

Gary Hanmer’s charge finished a useful second at Uttoxeter in September last year before going one better when making all in a 2m novice hurdle at Warwick the following month, beating Decorated by some seven lengths.

Subsequent form of 4/P/4 doesn’t make for inspiring reading, but there were excuses for those last two performances and the fact he is a two-time course and distance winner only boosts his chances of taking the win.

19:50 – Phone Home @ 7/1

A total of nine runners are set to go to post for the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle at 19:50 over 2m and the preference here is for PHONE HOME, who could find some improvement for trainer Jamie Snowden.

The Telescope filly finished fourth on her debut at Chepstow last month and that result could have been better after she found herself in contention with the leading pair coming to three out.

Unfortunately, a stumble on the landing put paid to her chances of success and she eventually tired into fourth, but there were enough positives to take from that display and Southwell’s track isn’t as demanding as Chepstow.

It’s also worth noting that in-form jockey Gavin Sheehan has been booked in for this ride and there is every chance he can eke out the improvement required to guide Phone Home to glory.

20:50 – Boomtime Banker @ 7/2

Rounding off our selections is BOOMTIME BANKER in the finale, the Follow @attheraces On Twitter Handicap Hurdle at 20:50 over 2m 4f 88y.

The nine-year-old has only had six runs since February 2020 but it is striking that the last two outings have both resulted in victories, the first coming at Worcester over this distance in July last year.

David Jeffreys’ charge followed that up with another success at Plumpton in September, again over this distance, and a bold showing for the hat-trick is expected if she can overcome another long absence.
