Tuesday afternoon should see a cracker of a game between the two top sides in the IPL, as Gujurat Titans (20/21) do battle once more with the Chennai Super Kings (5/6).

Hardik Pandya and his Gujurat side are looking for the perfect start to their IPL careers, in an attempt to go back-to-back, after winning IPL 15 at the first time of asking, after joining the league with Lucknow.

Standing in their way is the old stager, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his Chennai outfit, who are looking for their fifth IPL crown and their first title since 2021.

As the odds show, this one is too close to call, with the bookies making CSK slight favourites, purely on them playing this game in their home stadium.

Predicted Team news:

Gujarat Titans:
Hardik Pandya (c), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Vijay Shankar, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Abhinav Manohar, Mohit Sharma, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shami, Alzarri Joseph, Noor Ahmad, Shubman Gill (Impact Player)

Chennai Super Kings:
MS Dhoni (c & wk), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Matheesha Pathirana, Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana, Ambati Rayudu (Impact Player)

Latest Gujurat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings Betfred Odds

Gujurat to win – 20/21

The Titans have played the super kings three times over their first two seasons of IPL and have won on each occasion.

They certainly have the number over Dhoni & co and will be massively confident of winning again here.

Their confidence wasn’t even dulled after an early injury to star batsman Kane Williamson and Shubman Gill has stepped up admirably to the mark, scoring 680 runs at an average of almost 57, to sit 2nd in the orange cap race.

They also possess the x-factor in their bowling attack, with the twin threat of Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shami taking 24 wickets each, to share the purple cap award currently.

CSK have their own megastars including Devon Conway, Dhoni, Gaikwad and Jadeja but I just get the feeling that GT will do the business once again here.

Mohammad Shami Top GT wicket taker – 3/1

As mentioned, Shami has been in superb form has has two 4-fors in his 24 wickets this term.

A real danger with the swinging new ball and also at the death with laser-like yorkers, Shami has taken his game to a new level recently  and the Titans are benefiting from his experience.
