Newcastle to win

There is little value in the price but backing the home victory seems a safe place to start.

Newcastle have won 11 of their 18 home games, drawing five and losing twice. Those defeats were both by 2-0 to Liverpool and Arsenal but they have beaten Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham on their own patch and have conceded the second-lowest number of goals at home n the division.

The Magpies have won the last three meetings between the sides, two of which have come this season. They won 3-0 at the King Power before beating the Foxes 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the League Cup at St James’ and can easily make it a hat-trick for the campaign.

Both teams to score

For all of Leicester’s shortcomings, they do have a habit of netting on the road, doing so in their last five away from home, most recently their 5-3 defeat at Fulham.

With Newcastle riding so high, they could catch the Magpies napping and the Toon have occasionally been vulnerable at home, conceding in their last four at St James’ Park, including Thursday’s 4-1 win over Brighton.

History is also on Leicester’s side when it comes to scoring on Tyneside, as they have netted on their last six league trips to NE1.

Bruno Guimaraes to score anytime

Newcastle’s Boys from Brazil love facing Leicester. Joelinton has scored in both meetings this season, but it was Bruno Guimaraes who netted both goals in last April’s 2-1 win against the Foxes.

The 25-year-old was on target in the win over Brighton and three of his four league goals this season have come at home.

Harvey Barnes to be carded

Finally and a player who looks set to be departing the King Power Stadium regardless of his team’s fortunes is Harvey Barnes, with Newcastle thought to be among the clubs watching him.

Barnes may have lacked some of his spark in 2022-23, but he has still netted 12 league goals and has been one of the few who has shown real passion during his team’s calamitous campaign.

The 25-year-old scored twice at Fulham but also picked up a yellow card.

Like his colleague James Maddison, another likely target for the Magpies, the wideman can become frustrated with his team-mates and is a value selection to pick up a fourth caution of the season on what could be another tough evening for his team.
