Juventus will be aiming to bounce back from their European heartache when they travel to Stadio Carlo Castellani on Monday to take on an Empoli side, whose Serie A status for next season has now been assured.
It has been a tumultuous season for Juve, with the latest twist seeing them knocked out of the Europa League during the week after they suffered a heart-breaking extra-time defeat to Sevilla in the semi-finals.
Under normal circumstances, Massimiliano Allegri’s could bounce back from that disappointment by sealing a top-four place in Serie A with a victory over Empoli, but they travel to Tuscany with the possibility of a points penalty still hanging over their heads.
For Empoli, things are looking a lot more simple, with their top-flight status for next season having been assured ahead of this match following Verona’s 3-1 loss at Atalanta on Saturday.

Team news
Allegri has a lengthy injury list to contend with ahead of this game, with Nicolo Fagioli the latest name to be added after he fractured his collarbone during the midweek defeat at Sevilla.
Fagioli joins Leonardo Bonucci, Paul Pogba and Mattia De Sciglio in being ruled out for the rest of the season, while Juve will also be without suspended duo Juan Cuadrado and Danilo for Monday’s match.
Empoli will be without the ineligible Koni De Winter, who is on loan from Juve, while Tommaso Baldanzi is also expected to miss out, but forward Roberto Piccoli could start after he came off the bench to net a late equaliser against Sampdoria last time out.
Juventus to win with a -1 handicap @ 15/8
Juve may be depleted and perhaps feeling sorry for themselves after their midweek European exit, but the Old Lady could be facing the ideal opponents in Empoli, who may just take their foot off the gas having had their survival assured.
Monday’s hosts have taken seven points from their last three games, but they have a poor recent record when facing Juventus, losing 10 of the last 11 meetings between the two sides, a run that includes a 4-0 thrashing at the Allianz Stadium in October.
Six of Juventus’ wins during that run have also been by a two-goal margin or more, which further underlines that the wounded visitors can bounce back with a convincing victory in Tuscany, making the away win with a -1 handicap all the more appealing.
It could also be worth considering Juve to win the match 2-0 at odds of 7/1, as each of their last two fixtures in Serie A have ended in that scoreline against Atalanta and Cremonese.
#PickYourPunt – Fabiano Parisi to be carded and Dusan Vlahovic to score anytime @ 11/2
Serbia international Vlahovic has struggled to rediscover his best form ever since joining Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022, but there have been signs over recent weeks that he could be at last finding his feet.
The Serbia international has netted three goals across his last five games, including during Thursday’s defeat in Seville, taking his tally for the season to a more than respectable 14.
Vlahovic could certainly be worth including as part of any #PickYourPunt, while in the cards market, Empoli left-back Fabiano Parisi appears a prime contender.
Parisi has been booked nine times in Serie A this season and was also shown a straight red card against Spezia in February.
With three of those nine cautions having come across his last five appearances, it certainly does not seem like the Italy under-21 international is letting up as the season reaches a conclusion and he could well feel the wrath of the referee once more on Monday.
