Napoli may already have the Serie A title wrapped up, but Champions League finalists Inter Milan will be out to prove a point in Sunday’s visit to Naples.
Inter have managed to turn a difficult campaign into a great one, having booked their place in two cup finals. The Nerazzurri have a great chance to land silverware in midweek against Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia, while next month sees them lock horns with Manchester City in the Champions League final.
However, there’s bound to be a bit of regret at what might have been for Inter. They have an incredibly deep squad compared to most of their Serie A rivals and they entered this campaign among the leading contenders to win the Scudetto.
They ultimately couldn’t keep pace with a rampant Napoli side early on. However, the Nerazzurri’s recent run has established them as the form side in Italy.
A victory at the champions on Sunday could strengthen their claim to be Serie A’s strongest side right now.

Napoli were able to get over the line to secure the Scudetto with time to spare, but they needed two cracks at claiming the title. First, they drew at home to Salernitana when a win would have sealed the trophy, before drawing 1-1 at Udinese.
While they had a breathless start, things have taken a turn for the Partenopei in recent weeks. Arguably they’ve been able to ease off given their huge Serie A lead, but they’ve won just half of the points available to them since the start of last month.
In that time, Napoli also went out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals despite being held up as the strongest side in that half of the draw.
No one can take the Partenopei’s title win away from them and the celebrations in the city were a sight to behold, never mind their fantastic style of play. However, it’s likely a relief to Luciano Spalletti that Sunday’s clash with Inter isn’t pivotal to the title race.
The Nerazzurri head into this clash having won each of their last eight games in all competitions, keeping six clean sheets along the way. They’ve won five straight Serie A games, scoring 18 goals in that run.
Napoli have little to play for and their form has taken a dip, while rumours swirl that Spalletti is already at risk of losing his job thanks to in-fighting with chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis. The Partenopei have lost six of their last nine clashes with Inter and everything seems to be falling into place for another Nerazzurri victory at 6/4.
