Manchester City continue their quest for the treble when they welcome Chelsea to the Etihad on Sunday. We’ve previewed the game and provided you with some suggested best bets for the occasion.

Man City vs Chelsea Tips

  • Man City over 2.5 goals @ EVS
  • Ilkay Gundogan to score anytime @ 7/2

Sunday 21st May

Etihad Stadium, Manchester

Manchester City (2/9) are just a win away from third successive Premier League title and they can wrap the trophy up with a comprehensive win against a Chelsea side just waiting for the season to end – although they would be confirmed as champions 24 hours earlier if Arsenal fail to beat Nottingham Forest.

The Cityzens produced one of the finest Champions League displays in recent memory to coast past Real Madrid in midweek, extending their unbeaten streak to 23 games and making it an incredible 16 home wins on the spin – a run which started with a 4-0 demolition of Chelsea in the FA Cup in January.

Meanwhile, Chelsea (11/1) have experienced a torrid time since Frank Lampard returned to the dugout, and the Blues have won just one of their last 11 in all competitions and have lost seven times in that period.

Their 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest last weekend means they have conceded 14 goals in their last seven competitive games and their last trip to a top-four club – Arsenal earlier this month – saw them lose 3-1.

Team News

Man City’s only injury concern is with former Chelsea defender Nathan Ake, who has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury and is considered a doubt for Sunday.

As for Chelsea, Reece James, Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella (all hamstring), Mason Mount (pelvic), N’Golo Kante (groin) and Armando Broja (knee) are all ruled out with injuries, while Kalidou Koulibaly (hamstring) and Mateo Kovacic (unspecified) are both doubtful and will be assessed ahead of Sunday.

Man City over 2.5 goals @ EVS

Manchester City have won their last 16 home games in all competitions and that run started with a 4-0 demolition of Chelsea in January.

They have scored three or more goals in 13 of those games, while the Blues have conceded 14 goals across their last seven in all competitions.

Chelsea’s last visit to a top-four club ended in a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal and Manchester City have scored exactly three goals in three of their last six league games. Fixtures between City and Chelsea had previously tended to be closely-contested, but the west Londoners are a shadow of their former selves.

Ilkay Gundogan to score anytime @ 7/2

I think Ilkay Gundogan offers some value in the anytime goalscorer market.

The versatile midfielder has benefitted from Pep Guardiola’s tweaks to his system, often finding himself the target for crosses into the box and scoring four times in his last four appearances.
