It’s the second day of the Chester May Festival I’ve put together my four plays for the action. Course form usually holds up here and the draw plays a big part in finding a winner. Here are my Day 2 selections. All at EW prices and at of the time of publication, a £1 Lucky 15 slip (£15 total stake) could pay out £343.

Frankie Foster’s Chester Lucky 15 Tips – Thursday 11 May, 2023

  • 1:30 – Nyphadora – 11/4
  • 2:05 – Vetiver – 10/3
  • 3:15 – Changingoftheguard – 13/8
  • 4:20 – Hackman – 2/1

1:30 – Nyphadora – 11/4

The sprints went to low draw yesterday and I am hoping for the same to start the day.

Nymphadora is drawn in 3 with a good 2nd at the meeting, behind speedster Live in the dream. Lihou’s recent soft ground performance makes him the danger but I think Nymphadora’s class prevails.

2:05 – Vetiver – 10/3

Theoryofeverything has great form last time out, on soft ground in a Group 3 but from stall 9 this has to be hard work in a competitive field.

Vetiver is a horse I’ve followed since her debut. If she goes on the ground, I think she has every chance.

3:15 – Changingoftheguard – 13/8

Both Changingoftheguard and Hamish won at the May festival last year and they will be hard to split.

Changing of the guard gets the preference after being campaigned at better quality races in the Derby and then winning a group 2 at Ascot to finish the season. Connections do great at this meeting.

4:20 – Hackman – 2/1

Manor House stables have had absolutely no luck in getting any decent draws for the sprints but Hackman has been well supported.

He has to deal with testing conditions and a bad draw but that might not be enough to stop him today.
