World Snooker Championship Thursday Tips

  • Mark Williams -2.5 Hcp – EVS
  • Mark Allen -2.5 Hcp – EVS

Acca – 7/2

We’re into the last 16 in Sheffield and we have two cracking looking matches taking place on Thursday. We’ve managed to get you a boosted double on our selections, so let’s dig in!

Mark Williams – 2.5 Hcp – 11/10

Welshman and three-time world champion, Mark Williams (4/7) takes on Belgium’s Luca Brecel (7/5), for a place in the quarter finals.

‘The Welsh Potting Machine’ has looked in fine fettle this season, reaching one final, one semi and four quarter finals and breezed through his first round match 10-5, against Jimmy Robertson.

Brecel meanwhile, was pushed all the way by Ricky Walden, winning the final frame decider to emerge victorious, 10-9.

In an even longer format, Williams should have too much guile and trickery for the ‘Belgian Bullet’ and I expect him to cover this handicap comfortably.

Mark Allen -2.5 Hcp – 11/10

Similarly in the evening match up, Mark Allen (4/7) is up against Stuart Bingham (7/5), in a battle of Britain.

The Northern Irishman has lost a remarkable amount of weight, which has also coincided in the best period of snooker in his career.

Three ranking event wins this year, including his first UK Championship has given Allen real hope of picking up his first world title.

He smashed Fan Zhenghi 10-5 in the first round but faces much tougher opposition in England’s Bingham.

The 2015 World Champion looked in good form when reaching the semi final of the Masters but since then has struggled to get past the early rounds in tournaments.

I’m picking Allen to also win this one fairly comfortably and cover the three frame spread.

The two selections combined pay a tad over 3/1 at the time of writing but have been boosted by the Betfred traders to 7/2!
