As the wait continues to see who will replace Daniel Craig and become the Next James Bond, we take a look at the betting market to check out the latest odds to see if that will give us an extra insight…

This market has been up for so long that we’ve seen several changes in who the favourite is and that is no different this time compared to our last update. Now we have 32 year-old English actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the top choice coming in at 7/4. Reports indicate that he has filmed a test scene for the studio and that it went well. He’s probably most famous for the Kick-Ass and the character Pietro Maximoff in the Avengers movies but like any good English actor, he’s had a bit part in both Casualty and The Bill.

Henry Cavill has been at or near the top of the market pretty much since its inception but taking on the lead in a second blockbuster movie franchise would be a tough call. He was cast as the new Superman a decade ago but has now stepped down from that role. Could it be that he has the Bond job lined up or does the 39 year-old just fancy a step back from such an iconic character? We’ll find out in due time but he is on the drift, available at 5/2 to get the gig.

If you were to put into a computer with Artificial Intelligence all the characteristics of the James Bond character and it was asked which actor should play the role, then they may well compute that James Norton is the ideal man for the job. The 37 year-old attended RADA and graduated from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. He doesn’t have the big blockbuster chops of some of the other candidates but that is not a bad thing. Daniel Craig is a great example of that. We are 11/4 that he is the Next James Bond.

Rege-Jean Page won critical acclaim for his role in the Netflix drama Bridgerton and vaulted into the running for the big step up to such a life-changing role. We are 7/1 with Tom Hardy just a notch below at 8s. They round out the top five in the betting and no-one else is shorter than 16/1

The last time we wrote an article looking at the updated odds it was Burnley boy Lucien Laviscount who had come from seemingly nowhere to be the favourite. You can now back him at 25/1 and Idris Elba is one of three actors at that 16/1 mark.
