It’s day one at the Crucible and we have a full World Snooker Championship Preview for you. We’ve previewed the matches on Saturday and given you a four-fold accumulator, which has been boosted from 12/1 to 14/1!
World Snooker Championship Day 1 Tips

Ronnie O’Sullivan -4.5 Hcp – 6/5
First up, we have the number one seed and reigning seven time champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan (1/5) taking on China’s Pang Junxu (18/5).
These days, you never know which Rocket is gonna turn up and whether he is truly interested, but surely he will be bang up for trying to win a record 8th title in the modern era?
Junxu won their only other meeting 3-1 but Ronnie should be able to stretch his legs over the longer format and I expect him to win this one easily.
Stuart Bingham to win – 8/11
Next up is Stuart Bingham against David Gilbert (11/10) in an all-English affair.
‘Ball-Run’ has won all twelve match-ups between the pair, leading the aggregate frame tally 57-23.
Bingham also loves it here at the crucible, winning in 2015 and losing just one of his six first round contests.
Luca Brecel to win – 4/6
The last match of the afternoon session sees Belgium’s Luca Brecel taking on Ricky Walden (5/4).
The ‘Belgian Bullet’ is a clear 14 places above the Englishman in the rankings and leads the head to head 6-3.
‘The Walnut’ was fortunate to make it through the qualifiers and Brecel should have too much for him over the race to ten frames.
Ali Carter -3.5 Hcp – 11/10
Last up we have the sole evening session match between Ali Carter (1/3) and Jak Jones (12/5).
The pair have only played twice with Jones winning on both occasions.
However, Carter saves his best stuff for the Crucible and is having a renaissance at present.
‘The Captain’ is back upto the no 12 ranking, after a superb 2023, winning the German Masters and reaching two other semi-finals.
The 43-year-old should over power Jones here, in an arena where he has made the world final twice!
The four selections combined pay a tad over 12/1 at the time of writing but have been boosted by the Betfred traders to 14/1!
