It’s great prize money(at Haydock). Obviously, there’s been qualifiers for a lot of the races and Saturday all through the year.
We managed to win two of the races last year and they’re 50 grand apiece.
So they’re good money for those horses that probably wouldn’t have the chance to run for that sort of money normally.
We’re trying to aim a couple at it again this year.
2:05 Haydock – All The Glory – SP
Yeah, she was a little bit disappointing earlier in the year and she had a couple of issues, so we gave her a nice long break.
She wouldn’t have really wanted heavy ground – not that we got a lot of it through the winter, but we gave her a nice break, and she’s a lot stronger this time around.
She got some smart bumper form last year. She ran well in the Aintree Mares’ Bumper last year. So we’re hoping on that sort of form.She can kind of put a step in the right direction, but she’s going to need to, but it looks a nice opportunity for her too.
2.40 Haydock – Morning Spirit – 16/1
Yeah, very consistent. He sometimes throws the odd bad run in, but he’s a horse that likes cut in the ground, one might say, like Carlisle, earlier in the season.
I thought he ran well at Sandown last time out and again, you know he qualified for this race. He wouldn’t have really had the opportunity to run for 50 grand apart from this race through the year.We’re looking forward to running him, he actually ran well at Haydock earlier in the season but 3m 4 on soft ground just stretched him.We’re thinking 3m 1 round here, he’s a great jumper, I think it should suit him. But obviously with the prize money on it, it’s a very competitive race.
3.15 Haydock – Itso Fury – 9/2
Yeah, he needed four runs last time to run here today. It was always the plan all year round really, this type of race.
We won it with a horse called An Tailliur last year, who goes to Aintree and he had a nice type of profile.
We think he got the trip nicely at Ascot, he probably gave the winner (Thomas Mor) a little bit too much leeway in that race.
So hoping, you know, the experience probably did him no harm, and maybe you can take a step forward. He wouldn’t want the ground too soft, but hopefully it’ll be dry now
3.50 Haydock – Cobolobo – SP
Yeah, he’s got plenty of weight to carry but I don’t think that will bother him. He’s a nice big horse, you know he’s dropped down to 122 now., so he just scraped into the 120 veterans race.
He’s won there before, it looks a good opportunity for him to get back on track. His best days are probably behind him, but you know he was only just touched off in second at Ascot last year in a nice handicap.
So, we’re hoping if if he comes back to that sort of form, he’s got a good chance, but his first 2 runs of the season have been a little bit disappointing.
