It is, of course, Lincoln day at Doncaster on Saturday, with the Town Moor feature at 15:35, one of seven races being shown on ITV across that card and the one at Kempton.

If you like your flat racing, channel three is the place to be, with four contests to be broadcast from the South Yorkshire turf and three more from the all-weather in Sunbury-on-Thames.

Always a novice contest of quality, Starspangledbanner colt VALADERO could have the edge at 6/4.

Kevin Stott’s mount leads the betting ahead of Andrew Balding’s 7/2 Loaded Gun and, having cost 250,000 euros as a yearling, has to be feared.

There is good pedigree around 6/1 Indication Call for Karl Burke but favour goes the way of the expensive Valadero.

Selection: Valadero to win

14:05 – Kempton – Unibet More Extra Place Races Magnolia Stakes

TYRRHENIAN SEA ran a blinder in finishing second behind subsequent Dubai Turf winner Lord North in February’s Winter Derby at Lingfield and could take some stopping at 5/1.

Secret State, available at 13/8, is set to feature for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin after a four-run winning streak last summer that included handicap successes at Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood and he is the top-rated in the field.

However, Tyrrhenian Sea’s Lingfield showing was a fabulous effort and he should have too much for a field that also features the reopposing Foxes Tales.

Selection – Tyrrhenian Sea each way (at 5/1 with Betfred paying three places instead of two at 1/5 of the odds)

14:25 – Doncaster – Pertemps Network Spring Mile Handicap

TROPEZ POWER has shown great form over the all-weather, recording form figures of 23212 for John Quinn and his 14/1 looks too good to miss now he is back on the turf.

However, he will not be the only contender, with 17/2 The Gatekeeper recently winning at Newcastle after 625 days away, although a 5lb penalty could hinder such a lightly-raced horse.

Baltimore Boy jointly leads an open market at 7/1 and deserves respect after a couple of runners-up finishes in his last four outings.

Selection – Tropez Power each-way (at 14/1 with Betfred paying five places instead of four at 1/5 of the odds)

14:40 – Kempton – Try Unibet’s Improved Bet Builder Handicap

A C&D runner-up on his debut for new connections last month, MILLION THANKS looks primed to strike here.

He received 3lb from the handicapper for that run but his 11/2 still appeals ahead of William Buick’s mount, 11/2 Brains.

Meanwhile, Robyn Brisland will hope for a bit more from 9/2 Naval Commander, who was a short head away from a fourth career win over this track and trip in February.

Selection – Million Thanks each way

15:00 – Doncaster – Pertemps Network Cammidge Trophy Stakes

A horse who has run well fresh in the past is EL CABALLO, twice winning first up after significant breaks and owes connections a performance after a disaster when sent off joint-favourite in the Commonwealth Cup at last year’s Royal Ascot.

He is 3/1 in the betting but will need to see off the likes of Asjad and Commanche Falls, at 4/1 and 5/1 respectively.

The former was denied by a short head here when last seen in October. That was after winning at Town Moor over a slightly shorter trip the previous month, while the latter is a two-time winner of the Stewards’ Cup.

Selection – El Caballo

Horse Racing Odds

15:15 – Kempton – Unibet Queen’s Prize Handicap

There are six runners with a combined 11 Kempton wins between them in this one and it might well fall to Oisin Murphy’s mount, 11/8 AZTEC EMPIRE.

The four-year-old triumphed over track and trip in February and still has scope for improvement, regardless of the 6lb rise added to this son of Sea The Stars.

This race’s last two winners, 9/2 Bandinelli (2022) and 12/1 Sleeping Lion (2021), return for this renewal and should contend, while 5/1 Duty Of Care will also be a danger as Jamie Osbourne eyes a Kempton hat-trick for his five-year-old.

Selection – Aztec Empire

15:35 – Doncaster – Pertemps Network Lincoln

Finally, to the feature at Doncaster, the Lincoln Handicap and AWAAL (9/2) might be the one to watch after concluding last season with a handy win over this trip at Redcar.

The Simon & Ed Crisford-trained four-year-old has since been gelded, hinting at a future over the obstacles, but he remains on the Flat for now and his handlers have good pedigree in the race after saddling last year’s second, Saleymm.

James Doyle’s presence in the saddle also deserves recognition but the pair will have to be wary of Atrium (9/1), who was a C&D winner last September.

Wanees (8/1) scored in half of his four starts last year and there is also likely to be interest in William Haggas’ Al Mubhir (5/1).

Selection – Awaal to win, Atrium each way (at 9/1 with Betfred paying five places instead of four at 1/5 of the odds)
