Taunton plays host to a seven-race meeting on Thursday, with the opener due off at 13:30 and the closer set for 17:00.
It’s one of six cards scheduled in the UK and Ireland, with action also set to take place at Hexham, Limerick, Warwick, Naas and Wolverhampton.
We have selected four tips from the card at Taunton.
Taunton Betting Tips
13:30 – Jilaijone @ 2/1
We begin in the opening race when seven are set to go to post in a Juvenile Hurdle contest over 2m 104yds.
Jilaijone finished fifth when last seen at Exeter on March 10 following on from a fourth at Sandown in February.
However, the four-year-old came home just one-and-a-half lengths shy of winner Half Dozen at Hereford in January on soft ground and, with similar conditions expected on Thursday, he should be firmly in the mix.
14:40 – Garincha @ 5/2
There are six set to go to post in the 14:40 Handicap Chase over 2m 7f 3yds, including Garincha.
The seven-year-old edged to a victory at Fontwell when last seen and that win looks even more impressive when considering runner-up Lucofthedraw went on to claim first place at Huntingdon next time out.
Garincha, who has two wins from his last four trips, shouldn’t have any issues in managing a 3lb rise in the weights.
15:50 – Apple Rock @ 9/4
Apple Rock has enjoyed a very impressive campaign so far. The nine-year-old rolled out a hat-trick of wins before coming home sixth when last seen in a Handicap Hurdle at Ascot.
Trainer Ben Pauling will hope that underwhelming run in February, which came on the back of a 50-day break, was just a case of blowing off the cobwebs with a better run expected on Thursday.
Mr Tambourine Man, who has won three in a row, is also involved in the Handicap Hurdle over 2m 7f 198yds.
However, he is stepping up in class and has to shoulder an extra 7lb so Apple Rock should hold the advantage.
17:00 – Pentire Head @ 3/1
The final selection comes from the last contest of the day when a bumper field of 10 fight it out over 2m 104yds.
Pentire Head is making just his third outing but performances appear to be trending in the right direction.
He finished third at Chepstow on debut in October and returned from a 94-day break to finish second by a neck at Exeter in January.
That narrow defeat offers serious hope that a victory is on the horizon and conditions should play to his favour.
