They go out seven times on the polytrack at Lingfield on Monday, with the afternoon’s racing running between 13:45 and 16:45.

Our three selections for the Surrey card feature the one-from-one filly Ermesinde and a recent arrival at Jo Davis’ stable.

However, the one to watch could be in the 15:45, where the versatile Smart Boyo has a chance to demonstrate his class.

15:15 – Ermesinde @ 5/4

ERMESINDE (5/4) won at the first time of asking last month and there is little to suggest that the same outcome won’t occur in the 15:15.

There were early worries as she struggled to settle but the three-year-old ultimately won with a length to spare over this C&D.

The experience should serve her well against a decent field in this Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes, including the likes of Rechercher (11/1), who tries the cheekpieces for the first time, and Jack Channon’s Flash Bardot (3/1).

Flash Bardot has placed in three of her four career outings but has still to hit the board.

15:45 – Smart Boyo @ 9/4

SMART BOYO (9/4) has demonstrated his versatility with multiple runners-up finishes in both codes over the last few months and a second all-weather win looks in the offing on Monday.

That previous success at Kempton came over this 2m trip and a drop back in distance from his recent outings over the hurdles should not make a big difference.

Trainer Philip Kirby has his string in decent order, with Lone Star winning for him at Musselburgh on Friday and will be confident that Smart Boyo can adapt to a different track and surface.

Mr Rumbaliscious (EVS) avoids giving weight due to this being a Classified Stakes and not a Handicap to make him dangerous but there is always something attractive about a quality horse who can shape his form to all surfaces and Smart Boyo fits that mould.

Horse Racing Odds

16:15 – Ummsuquaim @ 9/1

A C&D winner back in November, UMMSUQUAIM (9/1) holds real value in the card’s penultimate race, a Classified Stakes, at 16:15.

The four-year-old has provided mixed returns since that win but jockey Mohammed Tabti seems to know her well, having guided her home from an SP of 28/1 in that sole success on her CV.

There should also be fresh impetus in her preparation following a recent switch in stables to Davis from Jean-Rene Auvray.

Another previous Lingfield winner in Savoy Brown (11/10) promises to provide a challenge, as does the relatively light-raced Afternoon Tea (6/1) as Tony Carroll looks for him to break his maiden.

Ummsuquaim looks a great price, though, and has a real chance to score.
