Carlisle hosts a seven-race card on Sunday with the opener due off at 13:50 and the finale set to take place at 17:18.
There are a further three meetings scheduled throughout the day in the UK and Ireland with action lined up at Naas, Limerick and Exeter.
It promises to be an action-packed afternoon of racing in Carlisle and we’ve picked out four selections.
Carlisle Betting Tips
- 13:50 – Giovinco @ 5/6
- 15:00 – Sawpit Sienna @ 11/8
- 16:10 – Piaff Bubbles @ 6/4
- 16:45 – Creative Control @ 4/1
13:50 – Giovinco @ 5/6
Our first selection comes in the opening 13:50 Novices’ Hurdle over 2m 3f 61yds when six rivals are set to battle it out for top honours.
GIOVINCO (5/6) looks the standout option in the field after claiming an emphatic 11-length victory when making his debut under rules at Ayr on March 11.
That performance came after an 118-day break and the six-year-old, who is trained by Lucinda Russell, showed no signs of rustiness.
Previously, Giovinco had edged to a narrow win in a point-to-point at Dromahane and Russell rightly has high hopes for her charge.
15:00 – Sawpit Sienna @ 11/8
The 15:00 Mares’ Handicap Hurdle looks highly competitive with five runners involved over 2m 1f.
Toughasoldboots (7/2)was third when last seen at Leicester in February and Esme Shelby (13/8) has finished second in two of her last three trips.
However, SAWPIT SIENNA (11/8) looks primed to pip them both to the post for trainer Samuel Drinkwater.
The eight-year-old made a winning return to action at Taunton following a 55-day break in January and she went on to finish second in her most recent outing at Wincanton on March 1.
16:10 – Piaff Bubbles @ 6/4
Eight are set to compete in the 16:10 Handicap Hurdle over 3m 1f and conditions appear to favour PIAFF BUBBLES (6/4).
The going is expected to be heavy in Cumbria and Piaff Bubbles ran a strong race on the same ground at Hexham when last seen on March 16, finishing second by a neck.
Prior to that trip, Piaff Bubbles had earned a two-length victory at Wetherby in January and a return to the win column looks highly likely.
16:45 – Creative Control @ 4/1
Our final selection comes from the penultimate race of the day when 10 entries compete over 3m 110yds in the Handicap Chase.
CREATIVE CONTROL (4/1) was a winner at Musselburgh in December but has since had to frustratingly settle for a hat-trick of second-place finishes.
Jockey Brian Hughes has been in the saddle for each of those four trips and he retains his spot on Sunday.
