Betfred Racing Ambassador Jonjo O’Neill Jr. has just one ride this weekend, from Kelso in Scotland. He talks us through his ride and also gives us some insight as to his experiences at the recent Cheltenham Festival.
3.00 KELSO – WALK OF NO SHAME – 9/1
A fairly quiet weekend for myself this weekend with just a single ride on Saturday as I venture north to the borders venue of Kelso to ride WALK OF NO SHAME in the 3.00.
She won nicely at Lingfield and didn’t mind the ground. She definitely gets two and a half miles and I think although Kelso is a sharp enough track, it’s a stiff finish, so the emphasis is on stamina. She disappointed me a little bit at Wincanton when she was beat, however, the race was a muddling affair and sometimes you can get those results. She has ended up with a fairly low rating, which may be a blessing in disguise. It looks a fairly open race, it is a nice pot and she deserves to take her chance in it.
I have been up and down the country this last week after the Cheltenham Festival, knocking on the door on Midlands National Day at Uttoxeter. Iron Bridge was a but unlucky not to win there, before I ventured to South Wales, Yorkshire, South West Wales and back via Chepstow again, but we’ve had a few winners throughout the week and all eyes switch to Aintree now.
The Cheltenham Festival was brilliant. I’m a Horse Racing fan more than anything and it was a fantastic week. Constitution Hill was fantastic and for Honeysuckle to win was just unbelievable. Great for racing and I think we saw a very special winner of the Gold Cup in Galopin Des Champs as well.
It was one of those festivals that was just great, it was nice to promote racing in that way, with some fantastic results.
