Super League continues on Thursday evening, as Huddersfield Town host St Helens at the John Smiths Stadium. We’ve previewed this televised 8pm kick off and given you our two suggested bets for the occasion.
Huddersfield vs St Helens Betting Tips
Both sides sit side by side in the table with Huddersfield Giants (6/4) in 5th and St Helens (4/7) in 6th, after winning two and losing two each.
The Giants lost last time out against the Warriors but coach Ian Watson insisted his side were the better team.
Saints, meanwhile, have come down from the euphoria of winning the World Club Challenge and have looked fairly tired in recent weeks in the domestic competition.
After two straight losses, they did manage to pick up a win over Hull FC last time out and will be looking to pick up momentum and move towards their traditional spot near the top of the table.
Team news
Ian Watson has shuffled his pack for the visit of St Helens, with Jake Connor, Sam Halsall and Innes Senior all lining up in the squad for the first time this season.
Matty English still isn’t fit enough to return and he joined Josh Jones on the unavailable list, after he failed his HIA assessment.
Huddersfield(from): 1. Jake Connor, 3 Esan Marsters, 4. Kevin Naiqama, 5. Jake Bibby, 6. Tui Lolohea, 8. Chris Hill, 9. Nathan Peats, 12. Chris McQueen, 13. Luke Yates, 14. Ashton Golding, 16. Harry Rushton, 17. Owen Trout, 18. Seb Ikahihifo, 20. Olly Wilson, 21. Leroy Cudjoe, 22. Harvey Livett, 23. Olly Russell, 24. Sam Halsall, 25. Innes Senior, 27. Jack Ashworth, 32. Will Pryce
Saints are boosted by the return of Will Hopoate for his first appearance in Super League this year and also the suspended duo of Sione Mata’utia and Konrad Hurrell, who return from two match bans.
St Helens have also appealed Morgan Knowles one match suspension and hope to add him to the 20-man squad.
St Helens(from): 1. Jack Welsby, 2. Tommy Makinson, 3. Will Hopoate, 4. Mark Percival, 5. Jon Bennison, 6. Jonny Lomax, 7. Lewis Dodd, 8. Alex Walmsley, 9. James Roby, 10. Matty Lees, 11. Huddersfield Giants +4 Hcp – 10/11
As previously mentioned, Saints haven’t hit their straps yet this season and other than the game against a woeful Cas, all their games have been close on the points front.
Huddersfield haven’t taken a hiding yet and were extremely unfortunate to lose against Wigan last week.
I’m taking the Giants to win this one on the handicap.
Kevin Naiqama first try scorer – 14/1
The big veteran centre moved to West Yorkshire from Sydney this season, having previously been at Saints for a coupe of seasons.
The 34-year-old Fijian had a tremendous try scoring record at the Totally Wicked Stadium and has already picked up a couple of tries this year for the Giants.
Betfred are running their famed Double Delight promotion on this match, meaning if Naiqama scores first, then scores a second, you will be paid at double the odds.
