There are two League One games taking place on Tuesday night, with a South Yorkshire derby televised live on Sky Sports. Barnsley take on Sheffield Wednesday and we’ve provided a preview, as well as a couple of suggested best bets.

Barnsley vs Sheffield Wednesday Tips

  • Match Result – Draw – 11/5
  • Josh Windass to score anytime – 2/1

Two of the form teams in the division collide on Tuesday night, with Barnsley (15/8) and Sheffield Wednesday (6/4) picking up more points than any other sides in the division over the last 10 games. Oh, and its a local derby under lights.

Oakwell will be absolutely bouncing, as Michael Duff’s side take on their larger near neighbours and league leaders, The Owls, with the opportunity of getting within five points of automatic promotion.

The Tykes beat Wycombe 1-0 away at the weekend, for their third straight win and seventh victory in the last eight, to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Meanwhile, Wednesday were head 1-1 at Hillsborough, by an obdurate Bolton Wanderers, yet remain one point above Plymouth, with a couple of games in hand.

Anyone fancying a close derby battle may be tempted by the 11/5 on offer on the draw.

Team news:

Michael Duff has a full squad to choose from and Devante Cole could be pushing for a recall, after dropping to the bench at Wycombe.

Darren Moore is still without Ben Heneghan but Dominic Iorfa could return after his one match suspension for the Bolton game.

Latest Barnsley vs Sheffield Wednesday Betfred Odds

Match Result – Draw – 11/5

I’ve thought long and hard about this one and I just can’t split the two sides.

Both sides possess the most frugal defences in the division, conceding less than a goal a game on average.

I can see this match being full blooded but tight and wouldn’t be hugely surprised to see it end goalless or a low scoring draw.

Bragging rights are at stake but I think secretly both managers would be reasonably happy with a point apiece.

Josh Windass to score anytime – 2/1

If anyone is to break the deadlock, I would go for the shrewd impishness of Wednesday frontman Josh Windass.

The 29-year-old is capable of providing moments of magic from nothing and he is the leading scorer for either side with 11.
