There is a seven-race jumps meeting at Southwell on Monday and we have picked out three selections for the afternoon, with the first race due off at 14:00 and the last scheduled for 17:05.
We have a hat-trick-seeking tip in the opener and then two more to follow in consecutive races at 15:35 and 16:05 in what should be another exciting afternoon of racing at the Nottinghamshire venue.
Southwell Betting Tips
14:00 – Ali Star Bert @ 13/8
ALI STAR BERT (13/8) is going after a hat-trick after recent impressive wins at Uttoxeter and Chepstow and has looked well at home following his switch to fences.
Staying in the same grade, Shaun Harris’ charge certainly looks among the most likely in the nine-strong field in this Handicap Chase.
Rostello (9/2) caught the eye when finishing third at Leicester last time out and could be the biggest danger, while Just A Deal (13/2) will also be one to watch.
15:35 – Leading Theatre @ 9/1
LEADING THEATRE (9/1) is a dual bumper winner who won at Fontwell in October and has followed up with two nice second-place finishes at Taunton in December and then Hereford in January.
Trained by Fergal O’Brien, Leading Theatre may have to see off the likes of White Rhino (7/4), who comes into this 12-strong contest on the back of two victories, and Bertie Blue (7/2), who is making his debut in handicap company, is another potential threat.
16:05 – Paddy’s Fancy @ 4/1
The next race sees PADDY’S FANCY (4/1) line up alongside seven others and the four-year-old will hope to have the beating of his rivals as he’s the only horse in the field with a previous win under his belt.
That was at Leicester in November after switching to hurdles in a juvenile contest and a second-place at Plumpton and a third at Carlisle earlier this year has only served to further underline his promise.
Emily Wade (5/2) is another contender in the 16:05 after recording a third-place finish on handicap debut here last month and stepping up in trip could well suit Sam England’s charge on Monday afternoon.
