As I head towards a couple of weeks off and away from this column, I’m looking to have a winner or two before my hiatus and we had one on Thursday at 5/4. As always I’ve scoured the coupons looking for a Football Bet at Evens or Longer and I’ve come up with this for Friday…
Football Bet of the Day – Friday 17 March, 2023
- Back Sheffield Wednesday to Win to Nil against Bolton at 7/4
Darren Moore’s squad have been putting on a masterclass in how to win promotion since the turn of the year. They keep finding ways to win games and have a very strong defensive record. In ten league games so far in 2023, only twice have the opposition managed to score.
Five of the ten have been 1-0 victories including the past three. That is exactly how to put together a promotion run. Both Plymouth and Ipswich are within five points but with Wednesday’s two games in hand, it is starting to look increasingly good for the Owls.
A few weeks back Bolton were one of the hottest teams in the division but they’ve cooled somewhat and are now in a real battle to make the playoff places. Ian Evatt’s side have only mustered one goal in their past three games away from home and the defences of Wycombe, Portsmouth and Morecambe are not exactly the best in the division.
Putting all this together, I like the likelihood of Moore’s side to win the game without conceding. We are currently 7/4 for this bet. I did also look at the 11/4 available for the Sheff Wed/under 2.5 double but a 3-0 win feels plausible.
