The penultimate race before the Gold Cup is the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle and will any of these horses follow in the footsteps of former winner Minella Indo, who went on to win the big race?

As of the time of writing, we have joint favourites as both Three Card Brag and Corbetts Cross are 7/2 on the Betfred market. The former is a Gordon Elliott trained six-year-old looked mighty in a Maiden Hurdle over at Fairyhouse earlier in the year. He hurdled very well that day and seems to have good speed. A combination for good things going forward. His primary opposition has had a very strong campaign so far with four wins from five. Last time out he went hammer and tongs with Found A Fifty at Naas. Pushed to the hilt that day and came through.

Willie Mullins sends out Embassy Gardens who despite not jumping great absolutely tore the field apart last time winning by no fewer than 35 lengths. That issue with the jumping has to be taken into account but this is the fastest horse in the field, if he jumps well then the 8/1 price could be an absolute steal.

The Henry De Bromhead/Rachael Blackmore combination has already had a good week and they team up for the 9/1 shot Hiddenvalley Lake. This six-year-old has been very lightly raced so there are still some question marks about just how good he is. The trainer also has Monty’s Star who is priced up at 16s.

Deeper in the market then Dawn Rising at 25s and Stay Away Fay at 20s will get plenty of each-way love. We have Idalko Blue as the biggest price in the field at 100/1.
