The finale on Day 3 at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival is the Kim Muir Challenge Cup Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Chase (5.30).
Kim Muir Challenge Cup 2023 Tips
- Selection: DUNBOYNE e/w @ 9/1
Gavin Cromwell’s Stumptown was all the rage for this race during the Cheltenham Festival build-up, and there’s every chance he’s well-in off 135 – but at that price and in this testing ground, I want to take him on.
One that will absolutely relish conditions is Dunboyne for Gordon Elliott.
The eight-year-old’s best form all comes on soft or heavy ground, with the pick of the bunch being his staying-on effort last time out in the ultra-competitive Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park in January.
It was a serious performance to finish runner-up that day, and on that basis I think his revised mark may continue to underestimate him – especially in these conditions.
Jamie Codd takes the ride, which is another big plus.
I suggest playing this each-way at the price, with Betfred paying six places. Hopefully he can at least make the frame.
