After two more place winners last week, Jamie Worsley will be back with his weekly preview and picks tomorrow, for the Puerto Rico Open. We’ve taken a look at the early betting favourites in the field, for your perusal.

Puerto Rico Open Odds

There is no DP World Tour action this week but fear not, we have a double helping being served from the states on the PGA Tour.

While the big guns go to battle at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the rest of the tour head to Puerto Rico for the Open ‘alternate’ tournament at the Grand Reserve Country Club (formerly Coco Beach).

With 44 of the top 50 playing in Florida, it’s no surprise that this is a fairly weak looking field this week. The defending champion, Ryan Brehm, will not be here this week as he is also playing at the API.

Nate Lashley – 16/1

40-year-old Nate Lashley is winless on the PGA Tour since 2019, where he picked up the Rocket Mortgage Classic title.

He has however, showed some good form this season, finishing T7th in Hawaii at the Sony Open, followed by a T20th in a very strong field at the Genesis just two weeks ago.

Lashley is a course specialist here finishing in the Top 10 in his last two attempts.

Ben Martin – 16/1

It’s been even longer a wait for Ben Martin’s last tour win, coming way back in 2014 at the Shriners.

Another course favourite at Coco Beach, Martin finished solo third in 2014, as well as another couple of T10’s here over the years.

He also showed some recent form, when finishing T5th at the Honda Classic last week.

Akshay Bhatia – 25/1

The American caused a viral sensation last week as he took his top and socks off to play two shots out of the mud at the Honda Classic.

His eight pack showed just how physically fit the 21-year-old is and one gets the feeling it’s only a matter of time before he starts winning on the main tour.
