14:15 – Market Rasen – Take Centre Stage @ SP

TAKE CENTRE STAGE (SP) has looked decent in his short career so far and could be a real contender for this handicap hurdle over two miles.

He has finished in the top four in three of his last four starts, the sole exception being a disappointing outing at Wetherby on Boxing Day when finishing last of 14.

However, he bounced back admirably to secure a respectable third place at Kelso in his last outing and now another opportunity has presented itself.

The six-year-old, who is currently trained by Rebecca Menzies has at least shown consistency in his performances so far.

He should be challenged at Market Rasen by Lipa K who was a bumper winner in Ireland last May.

However, this will be his first race at handicap level and that lack of experience may be visible at the end of the race.

15:15 – Market Rasen – African Dance @ SP

Returning to action after 14 months away from the track will be Olly Murphy’s AFRICAN DANCE and the eight-year-old will be keen to get back to where he was prior to his extended break.

He has won three of his last five races and came home to win a handicap chase at Ayr in November 2021, finishing half a length clear of En Meme Temps.

Sedgefield and Plumpton were the venues for his other two victories and now the challenge is to shake off any rustiness in order to get back to the winner’s circle.

It will be the longest race he has run at just shy of three miles but it should be well within his range.

He could be put under pressure by Geryville who scored twice last season.

However, he has recently recovered from wind surgery and may not necessarily be 100%.

15:45 – Market Rasen – Queens Gamble @ SP

This Listed race should be highly competitive but QUEENS GAMBLE appears to be in the best shape out of all the entrants.

Oliver Sherwood’s five-year-old has a perfect record so far winning both of her races at Cheltenham and looking like a class act in the process.

She is already stepping up to Listed class following those dominant wins – by ten and eight lengths respectively.

The daughter Getaway will be saddling a penalty for those successes but everything indicates she should be the one to beat.
