Sheffield United will expect to end non-league Wrexham’s dream run in the FA Cup when the Welsh side head to Bramall Lane for a fourth-round replay on Tuesday.
The first clash at the Racecourse Ground ended 3-3 after a pulsating 90 minutes and – amid all the Hollywood hype currently associated with the National League side – the Blades will be keen to remind them they are three divisions above and cut them down to size.
It’s true that United had to rely on a very late equaliser in the first match and Wrexham matched their superior opponents for much of the clash, backed by a fervent crowd and playing with the type of confidence that comes with sitting second in the table and being backed by wealthy film stars.
However, doing that all over again away from home against a side also in full swing as they eye promotion back to the Premier League is now a huge ask and this should therefore end in a comfortable home win.
Our #PickYourPunt selections for the replay come in at 5/2.
Sheff Utd vs Wrexham Bet Builder Tips
#PickYourPunt @ 5/2
Sheff Utd @ 2/5
It’s rare a non-league side causes a big upset in a replay as often their best chance of doing so has gone with the first game, especially in this case as Wrexham were at home.
Wrexham are bound to find it tough going to Bramall Lane to face a Blades side who sit second in the Championship and are on a run of four straight wins at home, while overall they are unbeaten in their last 11 matches in all competitions.
Over 2.5 goals @ 4/7
There were six in the original tie, so backing at least three in the replay seems a sensible move.
The Blades are the second-highest scorers in the second tier, hitting 48 from their 29 games and in the FA Cup this season they have scored five in their two ties.
Wrexham are also well known for their attacking output this season as they too are the second-top scorers in the National League with a very impressive 72 goals from 28 matches so far.
Phil Parkinson’s men have enjoyed their ride in the FA Cup so far this term as well, scoring 15 goals in five matches before even facing United first time around.
Sheff Utd total team corners – over 6.5 @ 4/6
With the home side expected to dominate possession, territory and create plenty of chances, it figures they should also rack up a fair few corners against their inferior opponents.
Paul Heckingbottom’s side managed five corners in a frustrating 0-0 draw at Rotherham in the league on Saturday and were awarded six in the first tie at Wrexham, so they are averaging around six per game at the minute.
With the replay being on familiar home territory they should get past the six mark on Tuesday night as they push for a comfortable win to set up a glamour fifth-round home clash with Spurs.
