The Saturday Premier League action concludes with the evening kick off from St. James’ Park, where Newcastle United host West Ham United. We’ve previewed the contest and given you some suggested best bets.
Newcastle vs West Ham Tips
- Newcastle to win and u2.5 goals – 23/10
- Callum Wilson to score first – 11/4
The Magpies (3/5) had a superb boost in midweek, qualifying for their first Wembley final since 1999. They play the same opponents as on that day in Manchester United and Eddie Howe’s men will fancy their chances of silverware.
Now, they are back to the bread and butter of the Premier League and are attempting to extend a 15 game unbeaten streak in the competition.
In their way is a West Ham (5/1) side that picked up their first win in eight a fortnight ago, beating Everton 2-0 and seeing the end of Frank Lampard’s tenure.
If David Moyes is not going to go the same way, he needs to ensure that the Hammers keep picking up points and move away from the 16th spot they currently occupy.
Team news:
Eddie Howe is missing two vital players in suspended midfielder Bruno Guimarães, who serves a three match ban after his red card and Alexander Isak, who came off with a head injury in the same game against Southampton.
This may give the chance to new signing Anthony Gordon or perhaps another opportunity for Allan Saint-Maximin.
David Moyes is missing three of his strikers, as Danny Ings, Maxwel Cornet and Gianluca Scamacca are all injured to varying degrees. Kurt Zouma is also back on the treatment able after a thigh strain.
Newcastle to win and u2.5 goals – 23/10
The loss of Guimarães and Isak will be a heavy blow to Howe but they still possess enough quality and team spirit to dispatch the Hammers and pick up another three points.
This should be a low scoring affair however, with unders landing in four of West Ham’s last six games and five of Newcastle’s last six.
Callum Wilson to score first – 11/4
Newcastle’s main striker is on a real barren streak but I think this could be the game where he breaks that drought.
Wilson scored six goals in his opening nine Premier League games and I expect him to go on a similar spurt if he can get on the score sheet on Saturday evening.
Betfred are running their famed Double Delight/ Hat-trick Heaven Promotion on this match, meaning should the England striker score first and then go on to score a second, you will be paid at double the odds (11/2). Should he score a 3rd, you would be paid at triple the odds (33/4).
