Only one game in the Championship this Tuesday night as relegation-threatened Cardiff travel to Bedfordshire to take on play-off chasing Luton. We take a look at the game and point out a couple of betting selections based on the latest odds on the Betfred Betting Markets…

Luton vs Cardiff Betting Tips

  • Back Luton to win at 10/11
  • Back Luton/Luton on the HT/FT Market at 5/2

The Hatters may have lost manager Nathan Jones to Southampton but they look to have hired his replacement well as they brought in Rob Edwards. The 40 year-old had endured a brief spell at Watford and got the old heave ho having just been in charge for 11 games. Getting fired from that club isn’t anything to be concerned about and his coaching prowess at Forest Green Rovers should be looked at more than his time at Vicarage Lane.

Luton have won four of their past five in the Championship dating back to Boxing Day with their only defeat coming in a 2-3 reversal to West Brom. They currently sit just one place below the play-off spots on Goal Difference.

Carlton Morris is expected to return to lead the line following a calf problem. This has been his best season to date and the 27 year-old has already surpassed his best tally having got to double digits by January.

James Bree won’t be available having left the club in the transfer window so Alfie Doughty looks set to take his spot in the starting XI.

Cardiff are sitting in 21st spot, three points above the drop zone. Sabri Lamochi was unveiled as their third manager of the season on Friday as they look to give a jolt of electricity to the squad. The former French international already has Championship experience having spent just over a year in charge of Nottingham Forest, so this won;t be too much of a culture shock.

He inherits a squad who is severely lacking in goals. That is glaringly obvious and they need to find some firepower if they are to survive in this league. 21 goals in 28 goals is a pretty terrible ratio but what he can look at with optimism is a pretty stout defence. No team in the bottom half have conceded less than the Bluebirds.

Curtis Nelson has seen his contract terminated with a move to Blackpool seemingly on the cards. Any hope of promoting wonderkid Gabriele Biancheri to the first-team squad seem to have been scuppered as the prolific 16 year-old is on his way to Old Trafford.

I hate backing against a team with a new manager at the helm but I do think Luton are the play here at 10/11 in the Match Result Market. They seem to be playing at a significantly higher level than Cardiff and I’m not sure where the goals will come from for the visitors. I’m not too shocked he under 2.5 is a pretty heavy favourite at 4/6 and BTTS No is 4/5.

If you are looking to push the odds on a Luton win then the HT/FT Luton/Luton at 21/10 is a fair price as I expect the home side to take the lead early. They have led at the half in three of their past five. In the Correct Score Market, the 1-0 or 2-0 are certainly my top choices.
