Brighton will look to make it back-to-back wins over Liverpool on Sunday when the two teams meet in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The Seagulls beat the Reds 3-0 when the two sides met in the Premier League earlier this month, as part of a run in which the Merseysiders have been struggling to impress.
Liverpool’s best chance of a trophy may well come in this year’s FA Cup, with Real Madrid next up in the Champions League, and the Reds do go into Sunday’s tie as the defending champions, having won both domestic cups last season.
Brighton vs Liverpool Betting Tips
Despite their recent success over Liverpool, Brighton are marginally bigger for the victory in Sunday’s battle at odds of 13/8. The draw is available at 13/5, while Klopp’s men are 6/4 to gain some revenge for their Premier League defeat and win on the south coast to book their place in the fifth round.
Team news
Brighton midfielder Adam Lallana picked up a muscle injury during last week’s 2-2 draw against Leicester City, which means Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi is unlikely to take any risks with his fitness.
If Lallana does miss out, he will be joined in the treatment room by Jakub Moder and Levi Colwill.
Moises Caicedo is unlikely to feature amid the ongoing speculation over his future, having been told to stay away from the club’s training ground until after the transfer window.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be without Arthur, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk for the next few weeks at least, while Fabio Carvalho has a niggle and looks set to miss out.
Nat Phillips is struggling with illness, but both Darwin Nunez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are hoping to return to the starting XI.
Brighton to win and both teams to score @ 16/5
Brighton cruised into the fourth round of the FA Cup thanks to a 5-1 victory over in-form Championship side Middlesbrough, while Liverpool joined them after beating Wolves 1-0 in a replay after a 2-2 draw at Anfield.
Those results explain the current fortunes of the two teams, with Brighton full of confidence, and Liverpool struggling to get going.
While Brighton are unbeaten in four games in all competitions, Liverpool have won one in five and were lucky to get that chance, having benefitted from two offside decisions in the first match against Wolves.
The Reds were outclassed on their last visit to the AMEX Stadium and although they may get on the scoresheet this time around, Brighton are in flying form and can advance into the fifth round.
Evan Ferguson to score anytime @ 6/4
With Sunday’s match being an FA Cup clash and priorities perhaps lying elsewhere, there is no guarantee that either manager will field his strongest strong team.
De Zerbi may hand youngster Evan Ferguson the chance to start, which is nothing more than he deserves after a consistent few weeks.
The 18-year-old has scored three goals in his last five appearances in all competitions, and with Liverpool’s defence not at full strength, he can capitalise in front of Brighton’s fans.
