With Rangers at home to St Johnstone on Saturday, Celtic’s lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership could be cut to six points by the time they step out on Sunday against Dundee United.
However, they have fond memories of Tannadice having won 9-0 there in August and have not conceded at the ground in their last five visits.
United were boosted by beating Stirling University 3-0 last time out but sit 10th in the table at the time of asking and look in for another tough afternoon.
Dundee United vs Celtic Betting Tips
- Celtic to win and over 3.5 goals @ 11/8
- #PickYourPunt – Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada to score @ 9/5
Team news
Liam Fox made several changes to his Dundee United side for the win over Stirling University, with former Bhoys star Charlie Mulgrew getting a much-needed 90 minutes.
Mulgrew may drop to the bench but Glenn Middleton could feature after scoring in successive matches.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou named a strong side for the 5-0 Scottish Cup win over Greenock Morton and could select new signing Yuki Kobayashi for a third straight start.
Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate and Jota could also come back into the side.
Celtic to win and over 3.5 goals @ 11/8
Goals will surely be on the cards at Tannadice, with Celtic’s last five Scottish Premiership games featuring over 3.5 goals.
Six of the Bhoys’ away games this season have seen over 3.5 goals and they do not look like stopping.
A positive result for Rangers against St Johnstone will give them 24 hours to ponder and with the Gers looking to have turned a corner under Michael Beale, Postecoglou will be imploring his team to ensure they do not slip up.
The Terrors have kept three clean sheets since the domestic campaign resumed but were beaten 2-0 by Rangers earlier this month and while they have improved since that August implosion, are still some distance short of the top teams.
#PickYourPunt – Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada to score @ 9/5
Missing out on Japan’s World Cup squad only seems to have inspired Kyogo Furuhashi and he has scored nine goals in as many games since the resumption.
The 28-year-old also has a fabulous recent record against United, scoring five times in the pair’s two meetings this season, the other being a 4-2 win at Parkhead in November.
With braces in his last two matches, Furuhashi is clearly in form and could be assisted by another player who has a strong record against the Terrors, Liel Abada.
The Israeli also scored a hat-trick in August, as well as in the victory at Parkhead and having netted in the recent 4-0 win over St Mirren, Abada could do so again on Sunday.
