As I mentioned, Ajax have stumbled in recent weeks and actually find themselves in fifth place in the Eredivisie heading into Thursday’s game. The Dutch giants are still very much in the title race and are within striking distance of top spot being just five points behind Feyenoord.
They face relegation-threatened Volendam needing to get their season kick-started and what better way to do so than face a team sitting down in 17th spot.
The visitors to the Amsterdam ArenA have only managed to score 18 times in 17 games and have only found the back of the net three times in their previous six games against teams from the Eredivisie. This coupled with Ajax being one of the better defensive sides in the division, having only let in two goals in the four games since the restart after the World Cup and 19 in the league all season.
This feels like a comfortable home win but the price of Win to Nil and Under 0.5 for Volendam is the same (11/10) so taking the Under 0.5 essentially gets you the 0-0 result for free.
