Facile Vega, our odds-on antepost favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, heads 67 entries for the 2023 Cheltenham Festival’s curtain-raiser.
The exciting son of the legendary Quevega is one of 16 – alongside the likes of Champ Kiely, Impaire Et Passe, Gaelic Warrior and Il Etait Temps – entered by that man Willie Mullins.
Barry Connell’s Marine Nationale is, according to the current betting at least, the most likely challenger to the favourite and was also handed an entry on Tuesday morning.
Other Irish raiders include Gordon Elliott’s Irish Point and American Mike, plus the popular High Definition for Joseph O’Brien – while Henry de Bromhead has Arctic Bresil and Inthepocket in the mix.
The British contingent is led by Paul Nicholls’ Tolworth winner Tahmuras, followed by Rare Edition for Charlie Longsdon and Nicky Henderson’s Jet Powered.
Interestingly, Henderson has also given the current Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle favourite Luccia an entry at this early stage.
