The latest chapter of the fierce rivalry between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants will take place on Saturday night (01:15 Sunday UK time), when the two sides lock horns Lincoln Financial Field.
Philly earned the top seed in their conference thanks to a 22-16 victory over the G-Men in Week 18 of the regular season, while the Giants advanced to this stage by beating the Minnesota Vikings 31-24 in the Wild Card Round.
The stats favour the Eagles coming into this clash – they have won nine straight home games against the Giants. However, star quarterback Jalen Hurts missed Weeks 16 and 17 of the regular season with a shoulder sprain, and was limited in his performance against New York in Week 18, where he averaged a season-worst 1.4 yards per rush on nine carries – not quite his MVP candidate form that he displayed earlier in the season.
If Hurts is will feeling the effects of this shoulder sprain, then the Giants could potentially take advantage of that and stun their fierce rivals.
Giants @ Eagles NFL Betting Tips
Team News
For the Eagles, Robert Quinn has a problem with his back, Linval Joseph is questionable because of a calf strain, Lane Johnson could be sidelined due to a tender groin and Avonte Maddox did not practice all week after sustaining a toe injury.
Meanwhile, Azeez Ojulari could be out for the Giants because of a quad strain, Fabian Moreau has a hip flexor, Julian Love is dealing with a sore hamstring and Landon Collins was limited at practice this week due to an ankle injury.
New York Giants on the Money Line @ 11/4
As mentioned above, if Jalen Hurts is still dealing with his shoulder sprain – although it should be in better condition than it was two weeks ago when these sides met – then the Giants can take advantage.
Hurts’ health is critical to Philly’s chances in my opinion, and I was also really impressed with Daniel Jones’ display for New York in the Wild Card Round against Minnesota, going 24/35 for 301 yards last weekend.
Brian Daboll has seen his side grow offensively over the past few weeks, with the Giants putting up 24+ points in three of their last four games, and I definitely think they can upset the apple cart here.
#PickYourPunt – Saquon Barkley 100+ Rushing Yards @ 10/3
Barkley can potentially decide this game on his own, as I’m expecting a closely-fought contest.
He is one of the best running backs in the league, ranking fourth in the NFL during the regular season in rushing yards (1,312) and fifth in yards from scrimmage (1,650). During the victory over the Vikings last time out, he has 109 yards from scrimmage, and also scored two touchdowns.
Philadelphia’s defence is much tougher than Minnesota’s but I’m still expecting Barkley to find some joy here and be the difference for the G-Men.
